Orbite Inc. and Interstellar Lab Partner to Advance Long-term Food Generation and Life-support Technologies at Mars Base Camp Analog in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – December 4, 2025 – Orbite Inc., a leading spaceflight training and experiences company, today announced a strategic partnership with Interstellar Lab, a pioneer in AI-controlled greenhouses and bioregenerative life-support systems. The collaboration aims to develop and deploy next-generation food production and life-sustaining technologies at Orbite’s Mars Base Camp analog facility in Saudi Arabia.

Located within Saudi Arabia’s uniquely Mars-like terrain, Orbite’s Mars Base Camp serves as a high-fidelity analog environment for testing human factors, life-support infrastructure, and mission operations critical to long-duration lunar and Martian exploration.

Through this partnership, Interstellar Lab will provide its advanced space food production systems and AI-controlled greenhouses, supporting a series of analog missions focused on autonomous and crewed food generation. The work will enable scientists, engineers and mission designers to evaluate closed-loop ecosystems, optimize crew workflows, and refine operational strategies for sustainable living beyond Earth.

At Orbite, we don’t just train people to go to space – we prepare humanity for living there,” said Nicolas Gaume, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Orbite. “Interstellar Lab’s bioregenerative habitats perfectly complements to build the foundation of long-term human presence on other worlds.

Our mission is to build a future full of life, on Earth and beyond,” said Barbara Belvisi, Founder and CEO of Interstellar Lab. “Partnering with Orbite at their Mars Base Camp allows us to evolve our systems in conditions that closely mimic real missions, connecting life-support research on Earth with off-world applications.

About Interstellar Lab

Founded in 2018, Interstellar Lab is an American French company that develops autonomous and intelligent greenhouse systems to grow plants in closed environment on Earth and in Space. The company specializes in AI-controlled greenhouses recreating any type of climate, from alpine to tropical, to grow large range plant species. On Earth, they work with the botanicals, cosmetics and food industries to grow rare and high value plants. In Space, they partnered with NASA, private space stations and lunar landers to grow plants in reduced gravity environments and conduct scientific research to better understand how life can expand in space.
