Cultivating the Future of Beauty: Interstellar Lab’s SIRIUS at Climate Week NYC

New York – September 24, 2025 – SIRIUS, Interstellar Lab’s cutting-edge BioPod for natural ingredients research and development, will be presented at the L’Oréal Groupe’s booth (#206) during Climate Week NYC, from 23 to 25 September 2025. Following the event, SIRIUS will be installed at L’Oréal’s new Research & Innovation Center in Clark, New Jersey, demonstrating both companies’ commitments to scientific excellence, sustainability, and innovation.

At Climate Week, one of the world’s leading climate and sustainability gatherings, SIRIUS will highlight the L’Oréal–Interstellar Lab partnership, focused on developing new sourcing opportunities by combining nature and technology. Together, they aim to revolutionize the sustainable cultivation of rare botanicals, powering the next generation of high-performance, plant-based fragrance and cosmetic ingredients.

Previously showcased at VivaTech, SIRIUS is an AI-powered greenhouse system that enables autonomous plant cultivation through GAIA, Interstellar Lab’s proprietary artificial intelligence. Designed as a research and development platform, it represents the first step before pilot production with PLEIAD and large-scale production with ORION.

By combining precision cultivation and molecular farming, SIRIUS allows scientists to rapidly design and test environmental “recipes” that stimulate the production of specific metabolites. Continuously managed by GAIA, which controls climate, irrigation, and nutrients in real time, SIRIUS automates the cultivation of rare and high-value plants under fully optimized conditions - ensuring scalable, reproducible, and sustainable production for fragrance, cosmetics, and beyond.

As part of Climate Week, Centella Asiatica will be showcased as an example. This plant produces madecassoside, an active compound with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti- aging properties, used in L’Oréal’s Cicaplast Balm B5 by La Roche-Posay.

After its New York debut, SIRIUS will move to L’Oréal’s $160 million, 250,000-square-foot R&I Center in Clark, New Jersey. Home to over 600 scientists, the facility reflects L’Oréal’s commitment to sustainable innovation.

About Interstellar Lab

Founded in 2018, Interstellar Lab is an American French company that develops autonomous and intelligent greenhouse systems to grow plants in closed environment on Earth and in Space. The company specializes in AI controlled greenhouses recreating any type of climate, from alpine to tropical, to grow large range plant species. On Earth, they work with the botanicals, cosmetics and food industries to grow rare and high value plants. In Space, they partnered with NASA, private space stations and lunar landers to grow plants in reduced gravity environments and conduct scientific research to better understand how life can expand in space.
